Modernizing the State of Michigan's Internal Communications

THE CLIENT The State of Michigan employs over 48,000 workers with roles in public safety, environmental protection, education, economic growth, and much more. The state government serves a population of nearly 10 million and an area of nearly 97,000 square miles.  THE CHALLENGE The State needed to modernize its intranet and communications across its sizable staff. To stay up to date, employees had to keep an eye on their email inbox all day or open the web to visit the intranet. Microsoft informed them about the value of Viva Connections and the ability to tie their existing intranet with Teams. Once convinced Viva would address this need, the State of Michigan needed a partner to implement the change.

WHAT WE DID Cyclotron did a deep dive with the State of Michigan to understand their objectives and desired outcomes. Not surprisingly, in the process of improving the communication platform for The State of Michigan, we knew strong client communication was key. We established a cadence of meetings from which reports went out to all stakeholders, making the progress clear for all involved.

Over the course of several weeks, our experts implemented Viva Connections and tied Microsoft Teams into their existing Intranet, across the wide body of the State of Michigan’s workforce. In addition to the technical deployment, we delivered several employee-facing communications letting them know about this new way to stay informed.
